26.May.2021 – The Ethiopian Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoTI), the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS), the Federal Small and Medium Manufacturing Industry Promotion Authority (FeSMMIPA) and UNIDO have inaugurated the Creative Hub Ethiopia.
The Creative Hub has been designed with the intent to foster innovation and economic development by promoting creativity, digitalization and knowledge sharing. The facilities – located within FeSMMIPA premises in the heart of Addis Ababa – have been equipped with advanced machineries and include co-working areas, laboratories and a coffee space.
The Hub will enable a wide range of services to designers and innovative entrepreneurs such as seminars and workshops, trainings, prototyping techniques, social events, and networking sessions. Moreover, it will offer the possibility to access to digital instruments (such as 3D printers, laser cutters, digital library etc.) and will encourage digital payments with the newly-launched “Telebirr”.

Gender Inclusiveness for creatives
29.June.2021 – Some topics are discussed so often, they become a metaphor and we do not want Gender Inclusion to be one of them! On June 29, 2021 Creative Hub Ethiopia started off the week with a relevant topic. Gender Inclusion! Members learned and discussed the basic concept of gender, awareness and impact of gender-based issues, the concept of inclusion, gender equality, and many more. We would like to thank UNIDO for conducting this training and will continue to do so, on a monthly basis.
Introduction to Digital Marketing
02.July.2021 – On July 2nd we had our first “Introduction to digital marketing” training given by Utio Connect. The training mainly consisted of introducing members to commonly used digital marketing terms and aiding them by using a case study of a clothing apparel business and how they used digital marketing to grow their business. The training gave clear insights to members about why going digital was a fruitful endeavor and how media has grown from just traditional ads to much more complete digital landscape.
How To Draft A Business Plan
08.July.2021 -On July 8, members of Creative Hub Ethiopia had an engaging workshop on how to draft a business plan.

12.July.2021 –We here at Creative Hub Ethiopia believe that we can learn from the past and reshape our future and that’s exactly what we tried to understand with a history lesson on how fashion has come a long way, looking at where we came from to draw a sketch of where we’re going.

In the past ten years, Design Thinking has been an important trigger to gather communities of marketers, entrepreneurs, and designers aimed to deliver the best product service solution to a wide range of users.
In this keynote, Philippe Casens is illustrating “Complector”; innovative diagram based on complexity and used in the ideation phase of Design Thinking process.
Philippe Casens is designer and teacher. He has collaborated with several important Italian designers and architects: AndreaBranzi, Clino Trini Castelli, Isao Hosoe, Pierluigi Cerri. He has also collaborated with academic institutions since 1995 namely Domus Academy, coordinating the Master in Product Design course and the Master in Car and Transportation Design. He directed EDIV (Ecole de Design Intérieur pour véhicules) of Mulhouse taught at the Ecole Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Toulouse, France and in Naba, Milan. In Hong Kong Polytechnic University, he worked as an academic director of Global Digital Mojo. He also has worked on several award winning design projects in Italy and the USA.

Mr. Estifanos Menchegirot is a Lecturer at Bahirdar University, Institute of Textile and Fashion Technology, Fashion and Product Design Development Program, and a Lead Trainer at African Mosaique Fashion Incubator Program.
